A small repositioning

I've been wanting a quieter place to write for a while. Somewhere away from feeds and algorithms where I can capture thoughts I'd normally share in conversations, the kind that don't really fit into a social post.

That's what Notes from the Smiddy, my new Substack newsletter, has become. I'll post on it occasionally, when something feels worth writing down properly.

The first piece covers something I've been sitting with for a while: a quiet but deliberate shift in how I’m planning to reposition Smiddy Marketing in future.

Since starting my business, conversations with clients have been noticeably evolving. Initially, my offer was straightforward: I have 20 years of global brand experience, and I'll bring it to bear on whatever you need. But over time it’s become clear that if you define yourself purely by output, you end up competing with the tools instead of guiding how they're used.

That realisation has driven a quiet but deliberate change in how I position Smiddy Marketing. Less about making more things. More about helping shape the decisions that sit behind the work.
